Woodnoth cum Shavington WI January 2024
The last quarter of 2023 has seen members of Woodnoth cum Shavington WI expand our Parish community involvement and joined into events through the county. A number of members travelled to Chester where they embarked on a cruise along the river Dee. Later in the month some joined 2000 members at the WI Federation council meeting at The Story House in Chester, where the main speaker was Philippa Forrester who spoke on conservation. One member joined a very interesting virtual talk entitled " Hydrogen a Future Renewable Fuel?" which highlighted its use in decarbonisation of transport and home heating. Helen Lea led yet another walk around the Parish introducing many new residents to the area. The Parish textile map continues to progress well. WI were honoured to be asked to provide refreshments following the Remembrance Service. In November we had a talk from Helen, Nantwich Museum, on the Walled Gardens of Townsend house. Later in the month, 10 members made a festive wreath, demonstrated by Petal Power Florists. Christmas festivities began with a day out to Tatton Hall, which included a visit to the craft fair and a tour of the Mansion followed by lunch. Celebrations continued with 48 members enjoying our WI Christmas party. Members joined in the singing, whilst serving mince pies and festive drinks at the successful Parish Carols at Christmas Parish evening. Our Walking group continue to cover many picturesque walks in the area and our diners group have arranged a meal in The New Year.
