"Parish Textile Map
In 2023, Benjamin Gibbs, the current Chairman of Shavington cum Gresty Parish Council, invited Woodnoth cum Shavington WI to update the original map.
Over the course of the project 27 members of the WI and  community contributed their skills and knowledge, to help bring the map to life.
The two maps now hang in the Village Hall to record the heritage of our village and note the changes over the years.

Woodnoth cum Shavington WI October  2025
Over the Summer months, we have been entertained by some of our own members. Sue Brooks, showed us how to make a material wreath from unused old clothes, including shirts.
Marion Brunt read a poem, she had written "What My WI Means to Me”.
In addition, Sue Brereton and Enid organised a game of chance, when members could win prizes ranging from 1p up to £20. We were also given a talk about cheeses, including a tasting session, from Nick Birchall, of the Cheese shop in Nantwich

Updating us on Parish information, Russell Jones, Chair of Shavington-cum-Gresty Parish Council, joined us and presented Helen Lea with a gift for all her hard work, in planning the walks, for the Parish Walking Book. In September Sara Randel and Mark Potts gave an overview of the soon to be completed, Shavington Heritage book.

Cheshire area activities included an afternoon tea in Swetenham, a talk on life in Camp Bastion by a retired specialist nurse and a selection of online courses.

Our walking group covered new and existing walks featured in the Parish Walking book, whist our diners have enjoyed delicious food and good company at the monthly lunches.
The book club remains popular, providing a social get together for members, and we are hoping to introduce a darts team.

There is always something going on at our WI.
